Jennifer Croft, Founder of 5-Minute Classes
One of the best resumes I have ever read was for a CEO of a $1 billion-dollar company, and it was less than half a page. So, I’ll keep this brief…
My New Venture
This website, and these 5-minute classes are the latest venture in my entrepreneurial career. By conscious intent and design, the online classes are free – available to anyone, anywhere in the world.
Starting and running a small business can be one of the most rewarding endeavors of a lifetime…and one of the most challenging. By providing free instruction, I’m aiming to make self-employment even more rewarding and less challenging.
My History
I started my first business when I was twenty (with $500), and have been continuously self-employed ever since. In the past 30+ years, I’ve run eight successful small businesses, and I’ve also taught more than 3,000 people how to start and run their own small businesses.
I’ve taught at Commons on Champa, Mi Casa Resource Center for Women, Colorado Free University, Arapahoe Community College, Jeffco Business Resource Center, and through other organizations in the Denver metro area.
When I was at Mi Casa, I developed 108 hours of curriculum for teaching women on welfare how to start their own businesses. That curriculum helped Mi Casa land a $500,000 grant from the Small Business Administration (SBA) and serves as the foundation for the 5-minute online classes.
My Hope
My hope is that, through the 5-minute classes, I can teach another 3,000 people, or 30,000 people, or 3 million people, how to successfully run a small business. And I’ll start by getting to that number by helping just one person…you! It takes courage to get up each day and chip away at the “to-do” list that leads to your dream. I give you credit for getting this far – to be at this crossroads, trying to better yourself. I hope that you’ll take full advantage of the classes and resources, and that they’ll make you a better business owner!
See you in class!
